Jückelberg

Jückelberg is a municipality in the administrative community Wieratal in the Thuringian district Altenburger Land. It is the easternmost municipality in the state.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Easter Jückelberg country and is the easternmost municipality in Thuringia. In the northeast of the village there is a sandstone ridge, the so-called Heidelberg. To the community includes the districts Jückelberg, Flemmingen and Wolperndorf.

Neighboring communities

Adjacent communities are (clockwise) the city Penig with the hamlet of Lower Steinbach in the Saxon administrative district of Central Saxony, the city Limbach- Oberfrohna with the district Wolkenburg - Kaufungen in which also belongs to Saxony Landkreis Zwickau, the town of Waldenburg and the district Dürrenuhlsdorf in the district of Zwickau and Göpfersdorf including the local part Garbisdorf, Frohnsdorf and Langenleuba - Niederhain with the district Beiern in the district Altenburger Land.

History

Jückelberg was first mentioned in 1280 in a tax register. In 1866, a medieval stone cross was discovered, which was set up according to legend there, because killing a carpenter and a butcher there.

  • Farmers - 1 seat ( 16.8%)

The turnout was 54.2 %.

Attractions

  • The district Wolperndorf is a listed building, so there are numerous historical Vierseithof and half-timbered houses in the village. Is first mentioned the Waldhufendorf 1336th The church located in the town center was built in 1580 in late gothic style.
  • Also, a late-Gothic church located in the district Flemmingen, but this was built in 1490. The Romanesque choir still preserved, dates from the year 1252.
