Judith of Bavaria

Judith (* 925, † June 29 soon after 985 ), was Duchess of Bavaria and one of the most important female figures of the political history of Bavaria in the Middle Ages.

Judith was the eldest daughter of the Duke Arnulf of evil of Bavaria and his wife Judith of Friuli. She was wife of Duke Henry I of Bavaria († 955 ). The membership of the Duchy of Bavaria was promoted to the emerging German Empire Through this marriage.

Judith was the mother not only of Henry the Wrangler for which they from 955 for a decade led the guardianship, but also of Hadwig who already was Duchess of Swabia, at age 15, and of Gerberga, the abbess in the monastery Gander home was.

After a pilgrimage to the Holy Land they lived from 974 in Niedermünster monastery in Regensburg. She was also, as her husband was buried.
