Judith of Swabia

Judith of Hungary ( * Summer 1054 probably in Goslar, † March 14, 1092 /96) was the youngest daughter of the Emperor Henry III. from his second marriage with Agnes of Poitou. Judith was in her first marriage to Salomon from 1063 Queen of Hungary and her second marriage to Władysław I Herman from 1088 Duchess of Poland.

Life

As the youngest daughter of Henry III. and Agnes of Poitou was probably born in the summer of 1054 in Goslar Judith ( Judith -Sophie - or Judith Mary).

In 1058 she was engaged as part of a peace agreement with the Hungarian heir to the throne and co-regent Salomon. 1060 had the two in the course of dealing with Solomon's brother to the throne of Hungary flee. They returned in 1063 with German aid back. The exact date for the wedding of the two is not known, one suspects the years 1063-1066. Salomon was overthrown in 1074, after which Judith lived from May or July 1074 to 1088, with brief interruptions in Regensburg.

To Salomon died in 1087, Judith married in 1088 the Duke Wladyslaw I Herman of Poland. This second marriage was Judith's peacekeeping and helped to make peace in this case, German - Polish relations.
