Judolia cerambyciformis

Spotted flowers Bock ( Pachytodes cerambyciformis )

The dappled flowers Bock ( Pachytodes cerambyciformis, formerly Judolia cerambyciformis ) is a longhorn beetle.

Description

The 7 to 11 mm type is quite stocky for a longhorn beetle. The yellow-brown wing covers that have a black spot drawing are only about twice as long as wide and narrows considerably to the rear. Exceptionally, the stains are completely absent. There are known forty different spot drawings. The species is similar Pachytodes erraticus. The differences are shown in the table.

Occurrence

The dappled flowers Bock inhabited large parts of Europe and Asia Minor and the Caucasus, but is missing in the North. In Central Europe it is one of the most common species, especially in hilly and mountainous areas.

Way of life

The larva lives on the roots of various deciduous and coniferous trees. She leaves in April or May, the wood and pupates in a small hole in the ground. From June to August the beetles are found, often staying on flowers.
