Jugel

Jugel is surrounded by forest district of Johann George town in the Erzgebirge District. The scattered settlement is divided into upper and Unterjugel and extends directly along the German -Czech border by Lehmer ground ( 708 m) to the crest of the Western Ore Mountains (873 m). Nearby is the 980 m high Scheffelberg. Jugel is a destination for hiking and winter sports.

The place can be reached by rail over Zwickau- Aue- Schwarzenberg, Johann George city and by car via the state road 272 Schwarzenberg - Johanngeorgenstadt - Wildenthal.

History

The foundation of the town dates back to the mining industry in the 16th century. 1561 is the term "at the Gugell " vouched documented. 1571 built Sebastian Preißler later Oberjugel glass works with eight residential buildings, were prepared in the window glass, glasses and tankards for the Saxon court in Dresden. The glassworks was received at the beginning of the 18th century.
