Juha Mannerkorpi

Juha Tapani Toimi Mannerkorpi ( born June 28, 1915 in Ashtabula, Ohio, USA; † 15 September 1980 in Helsinki) was a Finnish playwright and novelist.

Mannerkorpi influenced the modern Finnish literature both in epic, lyric and dramatic. His features, columns and radio plays for the Finnish radio found their way into German broadcasters.

Some stories were opera substances that have been performed in Finland and later in Germany. These include " Avain " ( the key ), for which Mannerkorpi rewrote a story to the libretto. The opera depicts delusions of an alien invasion that invaded a resident of a modern city. 1982 and 1984 " Avain " was also performed by the Hamburg State Opera.

Kalevi Aho adapted into his opera Ennen kuin me kaikki olemme hukkuneet ( Before we all have drowned ) Juha Mannerkorpis radio play, in which the desperate story of a woman is told that drowned himself.

Mannerkorpi received in 1958 the Finnish National Award in Gold.
