Jukka Jalonen

Jukka Jalonen ( born November 2, 1962 in Riihimäki ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey coach and former player, who has played during his playing days for JYP HT in the SM- liiga. Since December 2012, he is the head coach of SKA St. Petersburg.

Career

Jukka Jalonen played in his playing only one season long in professional hockey. In the 1985/86 season he played two games for JYP HT in the SM- liiga, the top division in Finland. Subsequently, he was active only in the amateur.

After end of his career took Jalonen 1992, the coach of Ilves Tampere, which he supervised for three years in the SM- liiga. He then coached Lukko Rauma in the 1996/97 season, before the Finn was the first time working abroad, where he initially trained for a year the HC Alleghe of the Italian Serie A, and finally two years, the Newcastle Jesters of the Ice Hockey Superleague.

In 2001 Jalonen returned to his Finnish homeland, where he was taken by HPK Hämeenlinna under contract by which he in the following six seasons four times - in 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2007 - the third in the SM- liiga reached. In addition, he was with the team in 2006 Finnish Champion, for which he was awarded the Kalevi Numminen - Trophy as the best coach of the season. In the 2006/07 season with the team Jalonen reached the final of the IIHF European Champions Cup, which clearly with 0:6 lost the team against the Russian representative Ak Bars Kazan.

In the summer of 2007 was Jalonen assistant coach of Finland's new national team coach, the Canadian Doug Shedden. After this was a contract with EV train in the Swiss National League A before the 2008/ 09 season, Jalonen took over his position as head coach. At the World Cup 2011 Jalonen won the gold medal with the Finnish selection.

As of December 2012 Jalonen was parallel head coach at SKA St. Petersburg before he gave up the post of head coach after the World Cup in 2013 and focused entirely on the SKA.
