Jules-Élie Delaunay

Jules- Élie Delaunay ( born June 12, 1828 in Nantes, † September 5, 1891 in Paris) was a French painter.

Jules- Élie Delaunay was a student of Hippolyte Flandrin and Lamothe, and became in 1856 the grand prize for Rome and entered 1865 with a picture of the Communion of the Apostles, which although based on the imitation of Raphael's, but his own poetic verve and warmth of feeling betrayed. It came in the Musée du Luxembourg in Paris, as well as the following three historical and mythological compositions: the plague in Rome ( 1869), the death of Nessus (1870 ) and Diana (1872 ).

From his later creations are: the Triumph of David (1874 ) and the fall of Ixion in Hades (1876 ). He has also painted numerous portraits and executed decorative paintings in the church of La Trinité (Paris) and in the New Opera ( Triumph of the song ).
