Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Julia Scarlett Elizabeth Louis -Dreyfus ( born January 13, 1961 in New York City ) is an American actress, film producer, comedienne and singer. It is, among other Golden Globe - and Emmy -winning actress.

Life and career

Julia Louis -Dreyfus is the eldest daughter of the French-American billionaire Gérard Louis -Dreyfus ( born 1932 ), who in the 1940s changed his first name to William, and later, " Louis Dreyfus Energy Services " initiated, an offshoot of the Louis Dreyfus Group, they applies therefore also itself as a billionaire. Her grandfather Pierre Louis -Dreyfus fought in World War II in the Resistance. Her cousin Robert Louis -Dreyfus was the main shareholder of adidas and led the football club Olympique Marseille.

Louis -Dreyfus began her career in the comedy show Saturday Night Live (1982-1985). She also appeared in several sitcoms and movies ( including in Hannah and Her Sisters ), best known, however, it was the role of Elaine Benes in the sitcom Seinfeld ( 1989-1998 ). In 1996 she won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

After Seinfeld Louis -Dreyfus starred in the sitcom Watching Ellie, which was soon discontinued. She also had a guest role in the acclaimed television series Arrested Development. Between 2006 and 2010 she played the title role in the CBS sitcom The New Adventures of Old Christine. For this they won the 2006 Emmy Award: Best Actress in a Comedy Series / musicals and in 2007 was nominated in the same category for a Golden Globe.

In May 2010, Louis -Dreyfus was honored with a star of the television category on the Hollywood Walk of Fame ( at the address 6250 Hollywood Boulevard). At the unveiling, however, it turned out that her last name was misspelled ( " Julia Luis Dreyfus "). The faulty components are replaced.

My current project is the television series Veep - The Vice President of the U.S. pay-TV network HBO, in which she plays the Vice President of the United States. The series launched in April 2012 and was extended after just two episodes for a second season.

Louis -Dreyfus is married since 1987 with fellow actor and writer Brad Hall, whom she met while studying at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. The couple has two sons.
