Julia Rohde

Julia Rohde ( born May 13, 1989 in Görlitz ) is a German weightlifter.

Julia Rohde takes for the NSAC Görlitz. She began her athletic career with eleven years as a competitive dancer and moved shortly thereafter to weight lifting. Since 2006, the Sports soldier trained in the national training center of the weightlifters in glues (Baden). With 108 kg Rohde is the first German weightlifter who has encountered more than double her body weight.

It was surprisingly Rohde win the bronze medal in the duel and silver in pushing at the 2008 European Championships in Lignano. The 188 kg ( 105 kg pushing, tearing 83 kg ) meant also set a new German record ( previously 81 kg and 100 kg). It was the first medal for Germany since the medal win by Monique Riesterer eight years earlier. Rohde qualified for the Beijing Olympics and was at her first Olympic competition 10 August 2008 Seventh in the weight category to 53 kg.

At the European Championships in 2009 in Bucharest Rohde could not attend because of a broken rib, after eight months she was able to start training again. At the World Championships in September 2010 in Antalya Rohde had reached a total of three German records to tenth place. In the U23 European Championships 2010 in Limassol, she won three gold medals superior. She emphasized in her weight class ( to 53 kg) at a duel capacity of 188 kg 14 kg more than the competition. In the two scores for the tearing (83 kg) clean and jerk (105 kg) won Rohde competitions.

The Armenian Elen Grigoryan was disqualified at the European Championships in 2011 in Kazan, Russia because of a positive doping test subsequently by the European Weightlifting Federation ( EWF). Thus Julia Rohde moved up one place and was Vice - European Champion 2011 Olympic duel (187 kg) and in the snatch (83 kg) in the 53 kg class. At the German Championships Weightlifting 2011, Rohde was able to secure 58 kg in the forestry title in the body weight and thereby improve the German record in the snatch 1 kg to 86 kg. 192 kg in single combat ( tearing 86/Stoßen 106) brought in the standings and won with 40 kg of lead over the runner-up Johanna Walzak.

At the 2011 World Championships Rohde started in the 53 kg class, came this close up to their personal best, that was enough in a duel to 14th place (85 kg 106 kg = 191 kg ). The performance in the snatch at the same time provides a setting of the German cup record dar. At the Olympic Games in London in 2012, she took with the new German records of 108 kg in the bumping and 192 kg in the 11th Place.

Since October 2011, Rohde committed volunteer as a new German animal welfare ambassador of the German Animal Protection League for the Protection of Pet Animals.
