Julia Schmidt

Vita

Julia Schmidt studied from 1995 to 1998 at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig and from 1998 to 2000 at the Glasgow School of Art Their works are marked by minimizing and renunciation. So she painted for example, discarded printing plates by Edgar Degas, canvas backs of famous paintings or pictures that have suffered water damage.

Exhibitions (selection)

In 2006, she was at the Museum of Fine Arts in Leipzig, a special exhibition entitled " Tourism and Painting" and the exhibition " New Fabrics " in the Casey Kaplan Gallery in New York City. Her works have been shown in various group exhibitions, such as: 2007 at the Kunsthalle Dusseldorf, 2005 at the Prague Biennale and the Museum of Contemporary Art (MSU ) in Zagreb, at the Kunsthalle Fridericianum in Kassel and 2000 in the Transmission Gallery Glasgow 2004.

Schmidt lives and works in Leipzig.
