Julianne Dalcanton

Julianne Dalcanton ( born January 29, 1968 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) is an American astronomer.

She is an Associate Professor in Astronomy at the University of Washington in Washington and researcher of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. Their main work is concerned with the formation and evolution of galaxies. She currently leads the ACS Nearby Galaxy Survey Treasury ( ANGST ) program on the Hubble Space Telescope.

She became internationally known as the discoverer of the comet C/1999 F2, which was also named after her. Dalcanton is married and has two children.
