Julien Absalon

Julien Absalon ( born August 16, 1980 in Remiremont ) is a French mountain biker.

Sports career

Julien Absalon is a cross-country mountain bikers, who has also won numerous titles. So he was in the different age classes several times French champion, European champion and world champion. Of this he took four world titles in a row at the elite riders. His greatest achievements are his victories at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens and 2008 in Beijing. He is the first mountain bikers who could defend his Olympic title successfully. Julien Absalon is together with his compatriot Miguel Martinez is the only mountain bikers, the Olympic champion, world champion and World Cup winner was. Because of its dominance Julien Absalon is often compared in the mountain bike scene and in his native France with Lance Armstrong, of which he is but distant.

In 2009 he won the World Cup in Offenburg Rammersweier. This was his 18th World Cup victory, with which he replaced the previous record holder Thomas Frischknecht.

Honors

Absalon was honored with induction into the Hall of Fame of the European Cycling Union Union Européenne de Cyclisme.
