History

The bridge is named after Julien Dubuque (1762-1810), a French-Canadian, who was one of the first white settlers in the region.

A first bridge was no longer enough soon to cope with the growing traffic. For a long time the means for more efficient bridge does not exist, especially since the urgency for it initially did not exist.

During the Second World War, however, grew important war importance of a powerful new bridge over the stream. Thus began in 1942 with the construction of the bridge and completed a year later. Since at that time even feared German air attacks, the bridge to stealth was initially painted gray.
