Julio Adalberto Rivera Carballo

Julio Adalberto Rivera Carballo ( born September 2, 1921 in Zacatecoluca; † 29 July 1973 in San Jose Guayabal ) was from July 1, 1962 to July 1, 1967 President of El Salvador.

Rivera Carballo was Colonel of the FAES and participated on January 25, 1961 a military coup against the junta Civico - Militar which Colonel Miguel Ángel Castillo presided. From 25 January 1961 to September 1961 he was a member of the Directorio Civico Militar, which ruled at that time El Salvador. When elected 1962 400.118 votes were counted, not ticked had 19,337, 11,980 and 368,801 invalid voted chose the only candidate.

He was the candidate of the Partido Nacional de Conciliación and was elected for five years as president. Subsequently, he served from 1968-1973 as Ambassador of El Salvador to the United States and for the UN.
