Julio Fis

Julio Fis Roussedy ( born October 28, 1974 in Guantánamo, Cuba ) is a former Cuban- Spanish handball player. He is 1.93 m tall and weighed 93 kg in his playing days.

Fis, the last of the Spanish Club CB Ciudad de Logroño ( back number 4) and played for the Spanish national team ( back number 8) aground, was used mostly in the left back.

Career

Julio Fis began in his hometown of Guantanamo with the handball game. In 1997 he got because of the business between the top Hungarian Club KC Veszprém and the Cuban Association for Fis ' compatriot Ivo Díaz the opportunity to play in Hungary; first in Győr, then a year later in Nyíregyháza. With good performances he recommended for the Spanish league ASOBAL, so he moved to Bidasoa Irun 1999. After a first spell at BM Ciudad Real in the 2000/ 01 season, he went in 2001 to Kiel in the German handball league. Here he won the German Cup and the EHF Cup in 2002. After only one season, he returned to Spain and hired from BM Valladolid, where he 2003 Copa ASOBAL and 2005, the Copa del Rey de Balonmano won; He also became the top scorer in the league ASOBAL in the season 2004/ 05. With this recommendation in 2005 he moved again to BM Ciudad Real. Here he won the 2006 Copa ASOBAL, the EHF Champions League and the Club Championship and in 2007 the championship. In the season 2006/ 07 FIS suffered from a persistent injury on his left knee, had surgery three times and fell out during the almost complete league operation. He, therefore, to borrow from the summer of 2007 along with his teammates Ion Belaustegui for two years at CB Ciudad de Logroño to rediscover his old form. However, since he could not overcome his knee ailment, he retired in the summer of 2008, back from active competition.

Julio Fis played 28 international matches for the Cuban national team. With Cuba, he came twice Pan-American and Central American champion and participated in the World Championships in 1997 and 1999. In the spring of 2005, he also participated in the Spanish citizenship. With the Spanish national team, he won silver at the European Handball Championship 2006. During the Handball World Cup 2007 in Germany he was missing due to his knee injury.

Julio Fis operates in Ciudad Real, a cocktail bar, in which the 2007/08 THW Kiel Aleš Pajović allowed to invite for a drink after the final leg of the EHF Champions League.
