Julio Le Parc

Julio Le Parc ( born September 23, 1928 in Mendoza) is an Argentine Kinetic artists and representatives of Op Art. It belongs alongside François Morellet, Horacio Garcia Rossi, Francisco Sobrino, Joël Stein and Yvaral in 1960, the founders of the artists group Groupe de Recherche d'Art Visuel ( GRAV ). Le Parc lives and works in Paris.

Life and work

Julio Le Parc attended the Escuela de Bellas Artes de Buenos Aires ( National School of Fine Arts), where she learned Francisco Sobrino and Horacio Garcia Rossi know. In 1958 he went to Paris. He worked in the studio of Victor Vasarely. As light and object artist, he started with like-minded people in the Groupe de Recherche d'Art Visuel to work.

He created especially light Kinetic Objects and Mobiles with light reflectors. His goal was to make visual phenomena clearly through experiments. New technologies should be used to the ratio of light and movement represent an innovative way. His work aims is to change the body awareness and balance, are distorted in the visual information. He uses light, reflective surfaces, lenses, patterned glass and distorting mirror. With the reflexes of shiny surfaces, it achieves dynamic effects. The viewer should be encouraged by elements that can be manipulated in his objects and arbitrarily moved to the active collaboration.

Julio Le Parc took as part of the Groupe de Recherche d'Art Visuel, and later as a solo artists in numerous solo and group exhibitions worldwide. These also included, among other 1964 participation in the documenta III in Kassel in the famous department light and movement, and as individual artists taking part in the documenta 4 in 1968.
