Julius Sturm

Julius Carl Reinhold storm ( Julius Karl Reinhold storm; born July 21, 1816 in Koestritz; † May 2, 1896 in Leipzig) was ( under the pseudonym Julius Stern ) one of the most important poets of the late Romantic period. He was also from 1856 to 1885 pastor of Koestritz. He wrote numerous poems and prose works, which he published about 30 books.

Life

Julius Sturm attended the Gymnasium Rutheneum 1829 in Gera, before he started in 1837 to study theology at the University of Jena. From 1841 he started his tutor activity in Heilbronn, in 1844 as tutor to the Crown Prince Heinrich XIV Reuss j he. L. ( Reuss- Schleiz ) was named. Part of it was this half at the Gymnasium in Meiningen. In 1844 he gave his first book New tales for the young, then under the pseudonym Julius Stern, out. In 1851 he became pastor in Göschitz Schleiz and end 1857 pastor in Koestritz. In 1885 he was made ​​an honorary citizen of Koestritz. His son Heinrich Sturm was from 1908 until his death in 1917 Lord Mayor of the city of Chemnitz. 1916 His older son August storm, professional lawyer and himself the author of many poems and other works wrote a book about his father's life.
