Juliusz Kaden-Bandrowski

Juliusz Kaden - Bandrowski ( born February 24, 1885 in Rzeszów, † August 8, 1944 in Warsaw) was a Polish prose writer and publicist.

Life and work

He was the son of Juliusz Marian Bandrowski and his wife Helena nee Kaden and brother of the writer Jerzy Bandrowski ( 1883-1940 ). Kaden - Bandrowski first studied piano at the universities of Lvov, Krakow and Leipzig, and then philosophy in Brussels. In 1907 he was a journalist and correspondent Polish- press and worked in the Skamander group. He was Józef Piłsudski's adjutant and chronicler in Piłsudski's 1st Polish Brigade.

In the period from 1933 to 1939 he was Secretary General of the Polska Akademia Literatury. During the German occupation of Poland, he remained in Warsaw and participated in the secret education, for which he was arrested by the Gestapo. His two sons, the twin brothers and Andrzej Paweł were Polish - Home Army officers, and fell in battle with the Germans. He himself died in Warsaw during the Warsaw Uprising. All three were buried in the Protestant cemetery in Warsaw.
