Jump Cut (journal)

Jump Cut: A Review of Contemporary Media is a magazine that is devoted to the analysis of cinema, television and video and related media. Its stated purpose is to address their issues of " a nichtsektierischen left, feminist and anti-imperialist " perspective. Their name comes from the cutting technique of jump cut, in a sudden visual break occurs.

History

Jump Cut was developed by John Hess ( a trade union activists ), Chuck Kleinhans ( a professor at Northwestern University), and Julia Lesage ( professor at the University of Oregon ) established in 1974. The magazine was published until 2001, in printed form. Soon after the online publication began as eJumpCut.org. The old printed editions are also available online.
