Jumpman

Jumpman is a computer game by Randy Glover, which was published in 1983 by the company Epyx.

Game idea

It is in a so-called Jumpman platform game with 30 levels.

The aim of the game is, the bombs, which are distributed in the field to collect. According to the background story, the bombs have been hidden by terrorists in the corridors that are located on the planet Jupiter. Jumpman can all ladders in the game field up and down climb, jump, and there are two different types of ropes in which Jumpman can climb each in a certain direction.

If one of one of the aisles, so this is fatal. There are also so-called "smart darts " - small balls that move in one direction by the court. But as soon as they are on the current level of Jumpman, they change the speed and direction and move on to Jumpman. It was originally released for the Atari 400/800, but later also versions for the Commodore 64, Apple II, and IBM PC were offered. The version for the Commodore 64 is one of the most successful games that were developed for this computer.

1998 also saw Randy Glover, how many fans the game had, and went to a sequel to the game titled Jumpman II The project was never completed.

There is a reconstructed source code ( in x86 assembly language ) and porting for modern PCs the original Jumpman PC version.

Continuations

The sequel to Jumpman was Jumpman Jr., which appeared as a disk version and as a plug-in module specifically for the computer Commodore 64, Atari 400/800, and ColecoVision.

1991 appeared Jumpman Lives!, Which was written by Dave Sharpless and published by Apogee Software.

2003 Dave Campbell developed the game Jumpman Zero for the Palm OS and Windows. The Jumpman Junior version is also software component of the C64 DTV.
