Jumu'ah

The Friday prayer (Arabic صلاة الجمعة salad al - Jum ʿ a, DMG salad al - ǧum ʿ a, prayer on the day of the meeting, ie on Friday '), is a religious obligation enshrined in the Koran. It is obligatory for Muslim men and boys during puberty and recommended for Muslim women.

The prayer on Friday is the most important of the whole week and should be done jointly in the Friday mosque, if possible. It replaces the noon prayer on this day ( dhuhr ) and differs in that it consists of two instead of four rak ʿ a ( bowing ) of this, and that Koran verses are recited aloud by the Imam ( prayer leader ). The Koran prescribes that believers, when summoned to Friday prayers hasten to prayer and to rest the trade (Sura 62:9 ).

The primary feature of the Friday prayer consists in a sermon ( Chutba ) that before the actual prayer (Salat) by a preacher ( Khateeb ), is generally held the Imam of the mosque.
