June Anderson
June Anderson ( born December 30, 1952 in Boston) is an American soprano opera singer in the vocal category.
Anderson studied at Yale University singing and literature. In 1978 she made her debut as Queen of the Night at the New York City Opera, " where they took over all the roles with which Sills was the name of the 'fastest voice alive' gives: . Gilda, Rosina, Lucia and Elvira " In 1982, she was in Rome made its European debut in the title role of Rossini's Semiramide.
The focus of Anderson's repertoire form the bel canto operas of Rossini, Bellini and Donizetti. Especially in the 1980s and 1990s, a variety of performances and recordings, recorded by rare played works as Maometto II, Armida and La donna del lago. Anderson was also one of the leading bel canto interpreters. Meanwhile, the repertoire includes, among other works by Richard Strauss ( Capriccio, Naples 2002, Daphne, Venice 2005) and modern operas such as Henze's The Bassariden (Paris 2005) or John Adams ' Nixon in China (planned for 2012).
As the first non- Italian Anderson received the award Bellini d' Oro. In 1992 she received a Grammy in the category "Best Classical Album". In the movie Amadeus by Milos Forman (1984 ), she sang the Queen of the Night (without appearance ).
