June Ward Gayle

June Ward Gayle ( born February 22, 1865 in New Liberty, Owen County, Kentucky; † August 5, 1942 in Owenton, Kentucky ) was an American politician. Between 1900 and 1901 he represented the state of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

June Gayle attended Concord College and Georgetown College. He then worked as a deputy sheriff in his home. He was later 1892-1896 Sheriff in Owen County. Politically, Gayle joined the Democratic Party, whose State Board he served in Kentucky. In 1899 he ran unsuccessfully for the office of State Auditor (State Auditor ). Meanwhile, he also worked in banking and in the tobacco business.

After the death of Mr Evan E. Settle Gayle was at the due election for the seventh seat of Kentucky as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on 15 January 1900. Until March 3, 1901, he finished the opened legislature of his predecessor in Congress. After his retirement from the U.S. House of Representatives to Evans withdrew from politics. In the following years he went back to his former business activities. He died on August 5, 1942 in Owenton and was buried in his birthplace of New Liberty.
