Junglinster

Junglinster ( Luxembourgish Jonglënster ) is a municipality in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, in the canton Grevenmacher.

  • Graulinster (French Graulinster, lux. Grolënster )
  • Imbringen (French Imbringen, lux. Amber )
  • Junglinster (French Junglinster, lux. Jonglënster ) and
  • Rodenburg (French Rodenbourg, lux. Roudemer ).

History

The territory of the municipality Junglinster was inhabited since the earliest times, of which numerous tools found. Near the road from Altlinster after Godbringen is a so-called " pagan stone ," called Häertcheslay.

Lincera is mentioned in documents 867. From the "rule Linster " is spoken for the first time in Schöffenweistum of Esch- Sauer from 1201. The moated castle of the Lords of Linster was in Altlinster.

Transmitter

Near Junglinster is since 1932 a large transmitter for broadcast on long wave francophone program RTL Group ( Lage49.71856.261362 ). The antenna is since 1954 one of three free-standing, insulated against ground transmission towers (self Radiant transmission tower ) with triangular cross section and a height of 215 meters (up to 1980: 250 meters), existing directional antenna (main beam direction: West ) are used.

The transmitter is in Junglinster since commissioning of the stronger long-wave transmitter Beidweiler (also on 234 kHz) in 1974 only active operating reserve. By May 2011 6095 kHz in DRM mode were sent programs of RTL Radio, KBS World Radio and religious broadcasters from Junglinster on the short wave frequency.
