Juraj Jakubisko
Juraj Jakubisko ( born April 30, 1938 in Kojšov, Czechoslovakia, now Slovakia) is a Slovak film director, screenwriter and cinematographer.
He studied photography at a middle school in Bratislava ( 1953-57 ) and then directing at FAMU in Prague. He made his debut with the feature film Kristove roky in 1967 after he had already made several short films. In the 1970s, he was unable to due to censorship in Czechoslovakia only rotate documentaries after his films Zbehovia a pútnici, Vtáčkovia, siroty a blázni ( Birds, Orphans, fools ) and Dovidenia v Pekle, priatelia! had been banned. It was not until the late 1970s, he shot the feature film POSTAV dom, zasaď current ( build ' a house, plant ' a tree ) before it reached its peak in the 1980s with the films Tisícročná včela and Perinbaba ( Frau Holle ).
Since 1993 Jakubisko lives in Prague. He is a member of the European Film Academy and since 2001 lecturer at FAMU.
