Jürgen Friedrich

Jürgen " Atze " Friedrich ( born November 11, 1943 in Dresden ) is a former German football player and official. He was President and Chief Executive Officer of the 1st FC Kaiserslautern. As a professional, he played from 1962 to 1968 at Eintracht Frankfurt and from 1968 to 1974 at the 1st FC Kaiserslautern.

Childhood and youth

Jürgen Friedrich was born in Dresden. Even as a child he moved with his family to Berlin, where he was called " Atze " as a little brother. He is a trained wholesale merchant.

Career as a football player

Coming from the youth of Eintracht Frankfurt, he was appointed in 1962 in the Oberliga team of Eintracht.

On 3 March 1963, he debuted in the premier league team of Eintracht 's 2-2 draw against 1 FC Schweinfurt 05 on the side of Friedel Lutz, Richard Kress, Egon Loy and Hermann Höfer. In this game the inside forward scored in the 15th minute and his first Oberligator. He played in the season 1962/63insgesamt 7 league games for the harmony in which he scored three goals. Although it was used in all the remaining league games of concord, he was in the Bundeslaga however, was not only a regular player. On September 21, 1963 on Matchday 5 he was 3-0 against Eintracht Braunschweig at his first Bundesliga game. In the season 1963/64, he has even been used only twice, and in the season 1964/65 only once. After he already came up with 9 appearances in the 1965/66 season he was in season 1966/67, as a midfielder regulars. For the harmony he came to a total of 78 league games in which he scored 12 goals. In 1968 he moved to the 1 FC Kaiserslautern for whom he played until 1974. For the FCK he graduated in the Bundesliga 158 games and scored 26 goals. In total, he played 236 times in the Bundesliga and scored 38 goals. He came for Kaiserslautern also 15 appearances in the DFB Cup. There, however, he managed no goals. For the harmony he played 5 Cup games in which he scored 2 goals.

He also came to 18 sessions and 2 goals in the European Cup. Of these, 14 games and 1 goal for Eintracht. For the harmony he also came to 17 inserts ( 3 goals ) in the Intertoto - round and 5 inserts in the Alpine Cup.

His active career he had to quit at the age of 31 years after a serious fracture in a friendly against the ASV Landau.

Greatest successes as a player

With Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga in 1963, he finished 3rd place in 1967 and 4th place in the DFB-Pokal in 1964 he reached the final in Stuttgart, where they lost the 1860 Munich 0-2. With the FCK he came in 1972 also in the DFB Cup final, which was lost in Dusseldorf against FC Schalke 04 0:5.

After the descent at the end of the season 1995/1996 Friedrich crashed - with other members of the opposition, including former coach Karl -Heinz Feldkamp - the head of the club 1.FC Kaiserslautern, Norbert Thines. He again took over the responsibility in Palatine traditional club, first as chairman of the board. Then Frederick was directly involved in a financial and tax scandal in the context of the personal rights of the soccer players. He had to answer in court with his fellow board members Gerhard Herzog and Supervisory Board Chairman Dr. Robert Wieschemann partly due to tax evasion and was sentenced also legally binding. After Frederick's tenure of the club in 2002 was just before the bankruptcy.
