Jurica Pavičić

Jurica Pavičić (* 1965 in Split) is a Croatian writer, journalist, film and literary critic.

He studied at Zagreb University and holds an MA in comparative literature and history. He works as a journalist for the Croatian daily Jutarnji list.

Jurica Pavičić has written several novels: Ovce od GIPSA (1997) and Nedeljnji prijatelj (2000) are related. In the first novel he describes the murder of Serbs Tišma in Split in 1992 by Croatian soldiers. Based on the story, he shows the lives of civilians during the war. Vinko Brešan has used the novel as the basis for his film Svjedoci ( German title The Witnesses ). The witnesses were honored at the Berlinale in 2004 with the Peace Prize.
