Jūrō Gotō

Gotō Juro (Japanese后 藤 十郎; born November 2, 1887 in Yamagata Prefecture, Japan, † 25 May 1984) was a major general in the Imperial Japanese Army.

Born in Yamagata Prefecture in 1887 Gotō graduated in 1907 with the 19th year from the Imperial Japanese Army Academy. From 1934 to 1935 he was commander of the regiment district Sendai and subsequent to 1934, Commanding Officer of the 16th Infantry Regiment of the 15th Infantry Brigade of the 2nd Division.

After the start of the Second Sino-Japanese War was Gotō to 1938 commander of the fortress on the island of Tsushima. After a promotion to Major General, he commanded the 132nd Infantry Brigade of the 104th Division. As part of the 21st Army, he fought with his division in the operations for the conquest of Canton and Shantou in southern China and participated in the defense of the region against the Chinese winter offensive of 1939-40.

1940 Gotō was transferred back to Japan and took over the short term the command of the 4th Division supplies before he was even added in the same year in the reserve and went into retirement. In 1941 but was called back into the service and took the regiment to 1942, Yokohama district. In 1945 he was briefly commander of the regiment district and area commands Kofu in Yamanashi prefecture. After Japan's surrender, he finally left the military service.
