Jurubatiba Sandbank National Park

The National Park Restinga de Jurubatiba (Portuguese Parque Nacional da Restinga de Jurubatiba ) is located in the northern region of the state of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and includes a coastal landscape ( Restinga ) of 44 km ² in the municipalities of Quissamã [W 1] ( 60%), Carapebus [W 2] ( 30%) and Macaé ( 10%).

By law, the national park was established in 1998 and covers 14,860 ha coastal, beach, salt flats and tidal areas. The national park includes 18 lakes and natural formations of the coast.

The park is monitored by the state organization IBAMA and visits are generally approved only when accompanied by appropriate leaders.
