Jury Veselov

Yuri Alexandrovich Wesjolow (Russian Юрий Александрович Весёлов; born February 20, 1982 in Krasnoyarsk ) is a Russian luger.

Yuri Wesjolow operates luge since 1999 and is since 2001 the Russian national team. The student was lower man in the doubles with Mikhail Kuzmich. His first major success was the participation in the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City where he finished 14th. In the season 2002/ 03 the double was the 13th of the overall World Cup and at the Luge World Cup in 2003. The following season they reached the ninth and eleventh place at the Luge World Cup in 2004 in Nagano in double and eighth with the Russian team in the team competition. At the European Championships in Oberhof the year they finished fifth in the team.

The 2004/05 season was mediocre success. Better it was again in the season 2005/06. In the overall standings of the Luge World Cup were Kuzmich / Wesjolow Tenth, the toboggan Challenge Cup 2005/2006 Ninth. With the team they both occupied in the 2006 European Championship in Winterberg, ranked fourth, in a double they were Twelfth. A place better they came a at the Olympic Games in 2006 in Turin.
