Juš Kozak

Juš Kozak ( born June 16, 1892 in Ljubljana, Ljubljana today; † August 29, 1964 ) was a Slovene writer.

Life

Kozak studied history and geography in Vienna and Ljubljana, and was then a high school teacher in Ljubljana. In the interwar period he was editor of svet Ljubljanski zvon ( 1935-41 ) and Novi. During World War II he was interned in 1942 in Italy and was subsequently partisan. After the war he became director of the Slovenian National Theatre in Ljubljana.

Works

He was the most gifted of the epic poet Preporod ( rebirth ) movement, the first Expressionism close, but then one of the main authors of the "social realism" of the thirties was. Kozak wrote as a publicist essays and reviews. There are virtually no German translations.
