Justas Paleckis

Justas Paleckis (born 10 Januarjul / January 22 1899greg in Telšiai, .. † January 26, 1980 in Vilnius ) was a Lithuanian politician, president of Soviet Lithuania in the interwar period.

Life

As USSR - abiding public person Paleckis was proclaimed as head of the LSSR: Antanas had previously Merkys as president of the Republic of Lithuania to cede under Soviet pressure on 17 June 1940.

J. Paleckis helped as a collaborator, that the Soviet Union was able to assert the Soviet power in the territory controlled by Moscow authorities after the occupation of Lithuania.

Later Justas Paleckis Chairman of the Government of the Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic ( LSSR ).

His son Justas Vincas Paleckis is a member of the European Parliament and an active pro-Europeans.
