Justin Kurtz

Justin Kurtz ( born January 14, 1977 in Winnipeg, Manitoba ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who was most recently at the Dresden Eislöwen in 2nd hockey league under contract.

Career

Justin Kurtz began his career as a hockey player with the Brandon Wheat Kings, which until 1997 he was active from 1993 in the Western Hockey League. In his third and penultimate year in the junior league, he won with the team the President's Cup. In addition, he was elected to the East Second All- Star team in the league. In the summer before the start of the season 1995/96 he had already been selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1995 by the Winnipeg Jets in the fourth round to 84th place.

After finishing his junior career, the defender after playing one year for the Las Vegas Thunder of the International Hockey League, followed by five seasons with the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League, the former farm team of the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League. In these he came in the 2001 /02 to 27 NHL inserts, in which he scored eight points scorer. In summer 2003, Kurtz signed a contract for the first time in Europe, when he moved to Krefeld Penguins in the German Hockey League. In two DEL seasons of Canadians scored in 100 games 45 scorer points, including 14 goals. After spending the 2005/06 season at the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg in the 2nd Hockey League, Kurtz returned to North America. There, the Worcester Sharks of the American Hockey League took him under contract. For the Sharks, he remained as only one season, as then at the HC Milano Vipers from the Italian Serie A, before he moved to the Nordsjælland Cobras in the Danish AL-Bank Ligaen, 2008.

Between May 2011 and January 2012, he stood at the Liwest Black Wings Linz under contract before his contract was terminated due to the commitment of Jan -Axel Alavaara. In August 2012, Kurtz was engaged by the Dresdner Eislöwen, but was injured mid-season hard and missed the rest of the season.
