Justin Lin

Justin Lin (born 1973 in Taipei, Taiwan) is an American film director and screenwriter.

Life and work

Born in Taiwan, Lin grew up in Orange County, California. He graduated from the UCLA Film School.

In 1997, with the film Shopping for Fangs his debut as a director. In 2002, he staged with Better Luck Tomorrow his second feature film. For this production, Lin was nominated at the Sundance Film Festival for the Grand Jury Prize. In addition, he was awarded at the 2004 Independent Spirit Awards nominated for the John Cassavetes Award.

In 2006 he turned the star-studded drama Annapolis - struggle for recognition. The actor James Franco took over the lead role. In the same year, Lin staged with The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift the third part of The Fast and the Furious film series. Due to the great financial success three more films in the series were filmed in which Lin also took over the director followed in 2009, Fast & Furious - New Model. Original parts., 2011 Fast Five was released two years later, Fast & Furious 6, followed in April 2011, it was announced that director Lin in the movie Terminator 5 will result.

Lin not only turns action movies. So he led in 2007 directed the comedy Finishing the Game: The Search for a New Bruce Lee. In addition, he led from 2009 to 2010 also directed several episodes of the comedy television series Community.
