Justin Mapp Sanders ( born October 18, 1984 in Brandon, Mississippi) is an American football player at the position of midfielder. He currently plays for Montreal Impact in the top division in the North American Soccer, Major League Soccer (MLS ).

Career

Youth and club career

Mapp began his active career as a football player at Northwest Rankin High School in Flowood, Mississippi. Then he went to the IMG Soccer Academy, where he graduated in 2001 and was first recorded as a Project -40 player. In MLS SuperDraft 2002, he moved in the first round as the fourth pick to DC United, however, played in his first professional season with three inserts only a total of 28 minutes. In his professional debut on 24 July 2002 Mapp was the five youngest player in the history of Major League Soccer, which was bestowed such an appearance.

In the 2003 season Mapp was acquired by the Chicago Fire SC in exchange for Dema Kovalenko. At the Club from Bridgeview, Illinois Mapp came to regular operations in the current season and was so at the end of the season 21 matches played. Furthermore Mapp celebrated great success this season, as he won with the team the MLS Supporters' Shield and previously also won the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

In the following season he was in a total of 24 championship matches on the court, scoring three goals and had four assists. The remaining six weeks of the season he was sidelined because of an injury to his right knee. Mapp was on 23 August 2005 in the MLS Selection team at the Trofeo Santiago Bernabeu against Real Madrid; the game went 5-0 to the Spaniard lost. After his match-winning goal duck in the championship game on September 4 against LA Galaxy Mapp was honored as MLS Player of the Week and his goal scored as a Goal of the Week. He was also one of the finalists for the MLS Fair Play Award 2005. During the 2006 season he won the Men in Red for the second time in his career, the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

Shortly after the end of the season he was selected to the MLS Best XI. For the 2007 season, Mapp was in just 13 league games in action, as he failed a long time due to a severe sprain of the right ankle, which he suffered in a league game against the Kansas City Wizards. 2008 Mapp was back to his old form and came at 30 completed games, just like two years ago, on a balance of two goals and eight assists. He came to Chicago Fire in a total of 174 league games for use, scoring 14 goals and had 36 assists.

As of summer 2010, Mapp was for Philadelphia Union in the MLS in use. On 23 November 2011 his move to Montreal Impact has been confirmed.

Internationally

Mapp already gained experience in the U-14, U-16, U-17 and U-20 selections of his home country. Among other things, he was at the U17 World Cup 2001 in Trinidad and Tobago in the squad of the United States. With the FIFA World Youth Championship in 2003 in the United Arab Emirates, he was used in all five games of the U.S. team and was considered a promising young talent for league and national team. His debut as A-National player he gave on 13 October 2005 during the qualifying match for the World Cup 2006 against Panama.
