Justin Raimondo

Justin Raimondo ( born November 18, 1951) is an American journalist and commentator. He is the founder and chief editor of Antiwar.com and correspondent of the magazine The American Conservative.

Life

Raimondo addressed in the 1960s with the philosophy of Ayn Rand, and finally joined the conservative youth organization Young Americans for Freedom. In the 1970s he was active in the Libertarian Party. There he was the mastermind of the party, Murray Rothbard, on when he founded together with Eric Garris the Libertarian Radical Caucus. In 1982, he ran against the Democrat Phillip Burton and the Republican Milton Marks in the election for a seat in the House of Representatives of the United States. Raimondo was able to unite 14% of the votes. After it came to a break in libertarians party in 1983, he stepped over to the Republicans. He began there to organize the libertarian wing of the party in the Libertarian Republican Organizing Committee. From 1989 he began collaboration with Murray Rothbard to press pacifist in paläokonservativ aligned John Randolph Club. In 1993 he ran against Phillip Burton's successor in the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, in congressional elections in the eighth constituency California. Pelosi received 85 % of the vote, Raimondo 13%. In the presidential elections in 1992, 1996 and 2000, he supported Pat Buchanan in each case, whether as a Republican candidate or candidate of the Reform Party. The support by the Buchanans to his homosexuality openly professing Raimondo attracted considerable media attention because of this rare combination. In 1995 he founded with Rothbard antiwar.com to express their opposition to the U.S. intervention in the Bosnian war expression. Raimondo expressed later also critical of the Iraq War under George W. Bush, and the subsequent occupation of Iraq. In the presidential elections of 2004 Justin Raimondo supported the candidate of the Green Party, Ralph Nader, in the 2008 elections, he campaigned for Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich, although he has a critical ratio also to these candidates.
