Justinas Staugaitis

Justina Staugaitis ( born November 14, 1866 in Tupikai, Šakiai region, Russia, † July 8, 1943 in Telšiai ) was Bishop of Telšiai and Lithuanian politicians.

Life

He learned at the elementary school Kudirkos Naumiestis and at the Gymnasium in Marijampolė. In 1890 he completed his studies at the seminary and was ordained Seinai on June 24 as a priest. On April 5, 1926, he was appointed Bishop of Telšiai and prelate of Klaipėda and consecrated by Antoni Karaś on 25 May bishop. In 1939 he resigned as prelate, as Apostolic Administrator of the Prelature followed him Maximilian Kaller.

From 1926 to 1943 he headed the Diocese of Telšiai. From 1922 to 1926 he was a member of the Seimas, Vice-Chairman, 1923-1925 Chairman of the Parliament.
