Justo Villar

Justo Wilmar Villar Viveros (* June 30, 1977 in Cerrito ) is a Paraguayan football goalkeeper.

Career

Association

Villar began his professional career under coach Ever Hugo Almeida at Club Sol de América, where he debuted in 1996. After five seasons, he was one of the best goalkeepers in the country and moved to Libertad Asunción, where he managed the Championship title in 2002 and 2003. From 2004 to 2008 Justo Villar played for the Argentine club Newell 's Old Boys. Here he was grab one of the best player of the Apertura tournament in 2004 and had only eleven times in 19 matches behind him, making his club after twelve years of drought for the first time won a national title. Villar rose to the idol of the fans of Newell's and played in the next four years even deeper into the hearts of the audience. For the season 2008/ 09 he went to Europe for Spanish side Real Valladolid.

In the summer of 2011, the contract of the now 34 -year-old Villar at Valladolid was dissolved. He then moved to the Argentine first division club Estudiantes de La Plata.

National

His national team career began on 3 March 1999 in the match against Guatemala. After he had taken part as the second goalkeeper for the soccer World Cup in 2002, he was nominated for the 2006 World Cup as the number one in the Paraguayan goal. In the first game against England but he was injured after just eight minutes and was replaced with Aldo Bobadilla, who represented him to the resignation of Paraguay from the tournament. He qualified with Paraguay for the Football World Cup 2010 in South Africa. This was Villar in 17 of the 18 qualifying matches in the Paraguayan goal and had at this time just take twelve goals. Even in the World Cup finals, he stood in the gate and moved with his team to the quarter- finals where they narrowly lost to the Spaniards. In the Copa America 2011 in Argentina Villar reached with his team the final, which was lost 0:3 against the Uruguayan national football team. Paraguay could not win a single game in the regular season in the entire tournament.
