Justus Claproth

Justus Claproth (* December 28, 1728, † February 20, 1805 ) was a German jurist and is considered the inventor of recycled paper.

Life

Claproth his doctorate in 1754 in Göttingen since 1759 and was employed there as a professor and manufactory judge later he received the title of Royal of Great Britain and Elector of African - brunswick - Lüneburg court counselor.

In 1774 he published a pamphlet entitled An invention to make printed paper again with new paper. In the film Claproth of experiments which he had made ​​together with the paper -maker Johann Engelhard Schmid (1736-1811) from small Lengden at Göttingen in the mill to produce from printed wastepaper new writing paper. For this, the ink was washed out with turpentine and wash the earth.
