Justus Ludwik Decjusz

Jost Ludwig Dietz (Latin Jodocus Ludovicus Decius, Polish Justus Ludwik Decjusz; * 1485 in White Castle, today: Wissembourg, Département Bas- Rhin, France, † 1545 in Kraków ) was a native of Alsace Krakow diplomat, financier, secretary of the king Sigismund the Old, later, his advisers and royal Münzverweser.

At first he was favorite, Secretary and staff of Jakub Boner, the royal banker and manager of the salt mines in Wieliczka and Bochnia. Thanks to his talents and abilities, he soon became influential, tied personal acquaintances among others, Martin Luther and Erasmus of Rotterdam.

In 1528, he acquired a property in the area of Krakow and gave the Italian architect commissioned to build a villa in the Italian style. The 1535 completed villa became the meeting place of many celebrity of his time. The village was named after the landowner " Wola Justowska " ( German: Justus ' freedom ) named.

Called The Villa, " Willa Decjusza ," today serves the same company ( Stowarzyszenie Willa Decjusza ), whose members include significant persons in Krakow.

Jost Ludwig Dietz wrote under the title De vetustatibus Polonorum ( " About the antiquities of Poland" ) is a Latin work in three volumes. Based on imaginary or fake sources, he described a long list of non-existent Sarmatian kings, mythical ancestors of the Poles.
