Jutta Lau

Jutta Lau ( born September 28, 1955 in Wustermark ) is a retired German rower and rowing coach today. It is one of the best trainers in the world and was named Coach of the Year in 2001 by the International Rowing Federation FISA.

At the 2000 Olympic Games their athletes won gold in the quadruple sculls ( with Kerstin Kowalski on percussion and sister Manja Kowalski in the bow ) and double sculls ( with Kathrin Boron ), the one won bronze and the lightweight double sculls silver.

At the 2004 Olympic Games their athletes won gold in the quadruple sculls (again with Kerstin Kowalski on percussion and Kathrin Boron in the bow ) and in one (Katrin Rutschow - Stomporowski ), silver in the double sculls and the lightweight double sculls.

Jutta Lau himself was Olympic champion in 1976 and 1980 in the quadruple sculls. 1974, 1975, 1978 and 1979 she became world champion. In 1977, she tried his hand at one, but lost in the East German championship against Christine Scheiblich. In her playing days, she started for the SG Dynamo Potsdam.
