Jutta Ploch

Jutta Ploch, after marriage Jutta Schenk ( born January 13, 1960 in Weissenfels ) is a former rower from the German Democratic Republic, the Olympic champion in the quadruple sculls and double sculls world champion was.

Ploch started at Empor Weissenfels with the rowing and then moved to SC Berlin- Grunau. In 1977 she won at the Spartakiade in One, 1978, she won the Junior World Championship in quadruple sculls. In 1979 she was runner-up in the GDR, both in the one behind Martina Schröter and as well, along with Petra Boesler in the double sculls behind Cornelia lens and Heidi Westphal. The following year she finished third in the one third place and together with Anke Rehfeld again second in the double sculls. At the Olympic Games in 1980 Jutta Ploch was actually intended as Ersatzruderin. In preparation of the double quartet, she started with Gisela Medefindt, Sybille Reinhardt, Roswietha Zobelt and control woman Liane Buhr, while Jutta Lau was not used. Since only seven boats were at the start, it was enough for the finals to make the top six boats: The sculls of the GDR was third best time. For the finale, Jutta Lau returned to the boat, instead of the originally planned Jutta Gisela Ploch had Medefindt soft. In the final, the boat from the GDR won just ahead of the boat from the USSR.
