Juvrecourt

Juvrecourt is a commune with 66 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle in the Lorraine region. Administratively it belongs to the district Luneville and Canton Arracourt. She is also a member of the local association was founded in 1998 Pays du Sânon.

Geography

History

The place name probably comes from the Gallic Gabros ( = goat) with the frequent addition of court (Latin curtis for yard ). He has changed over the centuries by Givricourt ( 1152 ) on Geveroucourt ( 1178 ), Gievrecourt, Gyevrecourt, Gieuvercourt ( 1476 ), Gieuvrecourt ( 1553) and Givrecourt (1600) to the present Juvrecourt ..

The community leads the former coats of arms of Aubertin family, the Lords of Bathelémont and Juvrecourt. The coat of arms was added to a silver cross on a blue background; it refers to the local Exaltation of the Cross Church.

The village Juvrecourt was from 1871 to 1914 on the border of the German Reich. Before the Franco-German War it belonged to the canton of Vic- sur- seille.
