K League Classic
The K League Classic is the top division in the South Korean football.
The K League Classic was founded in 1983 as a K -League and is the oldest professional league of Asian football. The five founding members were Hallelujah, Daewoo, POSCO, Yukong and Kookmin Bank. The first league title won Hallelujah one point ahead of Daewoo. The League has since been extended regularly.
Most teams include South Korean chaebols ( conglomerates ) and therefore carry their names. That's why they are also referred to as a franchise and not as associations. Recently, attempts have been made to improve the identification of fans with the clubs by adding the place name. For example, Daewoo was over the years to Daewoo Royals, Busan Daewoo Royals, Busan I'Cons, and finally Busan I'Park.
By 2012, the K -League was the only professional league in Korea and included after the last enlargement in 2011, 16 teams. From 2007 to 2011, the champion was determined in a complex play-off system. Here, the first table was set for the final, the second for the semifinals. The Third plays against the Sixth and Fifth to the Fourth. The winners of these two games came together, the winner of this game came in the semifinals of the Second and the winner turned out in the finale of the First Table.

They played a double round against each other (14 game days). The teams ranked 9-16 completed a relegation round. Also, they played a double round against each other (14 game days). The teams ranked 15 and 16 rose from the newly founded K League Challenge. The points from the 30 games each were fully taken into the master and in the relegation round. 2013 there is the same mode with 14 teams (No. 1-7: Master Round, Square 8-14: relegation round ). The league was reduced again. 2014, there are still measures only 12 teams. ( Place 1-6: Master Round; Place 7-12: relegation round ).
