K. Lee Scott

K. Lee Scott ( born 1950 in Valley ( Alabama)) is an internationally known teacher, musician, conductor and composer of sacred music, choral music and hymns. He lives in Birmingham, Alabama.

Biography

Scott studied choral music and composition at the University of Alabama School of Music and earned a bachelor's and master's degree in choral music. His teachers included Frederick Prentice, Paul Hedwall and Gail Kubik. He has been working at the Faculty of Music of the University of Alabama and Samford Universitiy School of Music. It often occurs in the United States, Canada and Africa as a guest conductor.

Works

K. Lee Scott is one of the most important American composers of church music in the last 20 years. A number of his songs have been published in eight different denominations songbooks. His published over 300 publishers in several works include hymns, choral pieces, pieces for solo voices, organ and brass. He wrote also some larger works such as Christmas Cantata and Te Deum. Two volumes of three-part (SAB ) Choral sets are I II widespread under the name of Coram Deo. Works by Scott are now also listed in Europe and Germany. Many of his works there are notes and recordings of various ensembles and musicians in the trade.
