K. Megan McArthur

Katherine Megan McArthur ( born August 30, 1971 in Honolulu, Hawaii, United States) is an American astronaut.

Start of career

McArthur grew up in California and received her degree in 1989 at the St. Francis High School in Mountain View. She then studied aviation and aerospace engineering at the University of California at Los Angeles and graduated in 1993 with a bachelor's degree. On Location San Diego in 2002 she earned a doctorate in oceanography.

In the meantime, she worked on several research projects in the field of oceanography.

NASA

In 2000 she was elected to the 18th group of NASA astronauts and two years trained as a mission specialist. She specializes in the technical equipment of the Space Shuttle.

She was one of the speaker connection ( Capcom ) for STS -116 and connecting spokesman for spacewalks on STS -117, as well as Association spokeswoman for STS- 131, STS- 134 and STS- 135th

STS -125

Megan McArthur took as a mission specialist, participates in the Space Shuttle mission STS -125, which launched to the last servicing of the Hubble Space Telescope on May 11, 2009. The landing took place on 24 May 2009 at Edwards Air Force Base.
