K. R. Malkani

Kewalram Ratanmal Malkani ( born November 19, 1921 in Hyderabad, Sindh in Pakistan today; † 27 October 2003 in Pondicherry) was an Indian author, journalist and politician.

Life

Malkani was educated in Hyderabad, Pune, Karachi, Mumbai and at Harvard University. Malkani was associated with the Bharatiya Jana Sangh (Indian People's Party ) since its inception in 1951 and in 1980 one of the founding members of the Bharatiya Janata Party, the BJP. From 1994 to 2000 he was a member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament. In the years 2002 and 2003, Malkani was Deputy Governor of the Indian Union Territory of Pondicherry.

Malkani was editor of several newspapers and 1978-1979 General Secretary of the publishing community in India ( Editors Guild of India).
