K. Sint-Truidense VV (women)

VV St. Truiden is a sports club from Sint -Truiden. The women's football department was established in 2008 through the acquisition of women's football department of KFC Rapide Wezemaal. The first team plays in the Eerste Klasse since 1991 and in 2010 for the first time after taking over Belgian champions.

History

In 1983, club president Dr. Ferdinand Mertens with his daughter Petra, a women's football team. Within five years, promotion to the second division. In the same year they won the trophy for the fifth time and was thus able to secure the double. The first appearance in the UEFA Women 's Cup was mixed. A victory against ZNK Maksimir (Croatia ) were compared with two defeats against ZFK Masinac Classic Niš ( Serbia) and Hibernian (Scotland). A year later the second championship was celebrated for the first time and the team could win the Supercup. But this time it was not very successful in Europe. Only against Glasgow City a victory could be celebrated. But they lost the SV Saestum (Netherlands) and Athletic Bilbao (Spain). 2006, the third championship was won in a row and finally it worked also at European level. Unbeaten and a clean sheet was pulled as the first Belgian team in the second round.

In 2008, the women's football department moved from Rapide Wezemaal to VV St. Truiden. In 2010, the team for the first time after taking over Belgian champions.
