K.V. Oostende
The Koninklijke Voetbalklub Oostende is a Belgian football club from Ostend.
History
The association, created in 1981 from the merger of two established in Ostend football clubs.
Early years
On October 1, 1905 by former pupils Van Neste Genootschap Ostend was founded and three years later, the club joined the Belgian association of the Union Belge des Sociétés de Sports Athlétiques in. 1911, the Association Sportive Ostendaise a local rival. This reached 1931 for the first time the second division, where in 1935 as runner-up narrowly missed the rise in the excellence. In the season 1936/37, both teams played second-rate. AS Ostend rose from the end of the season, VG Oostende followed a year later.
Separate years
With the introduction of the single-track second league 1952 AS Ostend after qualifying. In the following years the team always occupied seats in the midfield. 1969 succeeded as champions of Division 2 promotion to the First Division. However, the club was relegated once again as Table. As a second to last the second division the club in 1971 even slipped into the third division. 1973 managed under coach Norberto courtier to rise again and the following season as runner-up to return to the top flight. In 1974, the local rivals VG return to Ostend for almost forty years back in the second division and qualify at the end of the season even for the ascent Games but finished last. 1977 AS Ostend rose from the premier league and from the two local rivals played 1977/78 again in a league. However VG Oostende finished the season on a relegation place, a year later AS was Ostend last.
After the merger
On 1 July 1981, the two local rivals and the KV Ostende was merged. This succeeded in 1992, the return to the second division. As a third party, the team reached the ascent games in which they prevailed with five wins and a draw with eleven points unbeaten Eendracht Aalst (5 points) and ascended to the first division. As a seventh in 1994 managed to avoid relegation, the following season only reach five wins and the season was finished last but one.
Decline and fall
The rise of games were in the Second Division in third place indeed achieved Excelsior Mouscron was there but too strong. 1998 succeeded as second division champions return to the top flight, with only four wins as Table there relegation missed. 2000 failed the team again in the ascendancy games, a year later, the club had to cut off a Table to start output in the third division. There, the club reached the promotion in third place game, but failed in the final to VW Hamme clearly with 1:4.
Walkover
In 2002, the team performed as a runner-up again in the rise of games on, but failed to Oud -Heverlee. After the license revocation for Berchem Sport nevertheless managed to climb. This surprised the team as a runner and thus qualified for the rise of games for the Jupiler League. After three wins and three defeats, the round was finished equal on points with KFC Verbroedering Geel. Since these were, however, comes as a table Tenth in the ascent of the better games and the standings will decide in the regular season, managed KV Ostende the sensation and the walkover in the first division.
With five points behind the safe shore or KSK Beveren missed KV Oostende in the league. Since then, the club plays in the second division and reached there last 2012, the Relegation Round. Since 2013, the club plays again in the highest Belgian league, the Jupiler Pro League.
